A New Camera!!!!!

Hello! Hello! Hello! You Lucky Dog is back in the business of taking photographs of our canine companions. Long story short, after many trials, errors and some expert advice it was decided the former camera (just 13 months old) was dead and could not be resurrected. I had tried to utilize the camera in my phone but the office computer would not allow me to download them. Sigh. Anyway, I researched and purchased a new camera today so the photos are below. Please spread the word that we're back to showing daily photos!Willie

Training Class

It's that time again! The first training class of 2010 begins next Tuesday night (jan 19th) at 7pm. This will be a 6 week class working on general manners, problem solving current issues, overcoming distractions, socializing and we'll talk a little bit about dog sports as well as learn a few tricks.

The first class is for humans only, no dogs. this will give us a chance to talk and learn without distractions! The cost is $85. All dogs have to be friendly and up to date on vaccines. I do have a limited number of spaces as I want to guarantee individual attention and not overwhelm the dogs needing distraction help.

Send me an email to sign up or if you have any questions.

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone,
Hope all of you had a great Christmas and New Years!

We had fun with all of the holiday boarders and are back into our usual schedule around here. We have designed our daycare to follow a fairly tight schedule as some of you know. It's important for our staff but mostly it benefits your dogs. Dogs are creatures of habit, and thrive on a schedule. We understand and cater to this. Every day our boarding dogs wake up and potty at the same time...they eat and nap at the same time. A late night potty break and bed time are of course consistent too. When dogs come for daycare, they follow the same schedule every day as well. This is the one reason why we REQUIRE your dog visits us at least TWO times per month. They meet and spend time with lots of other dogs and our staff. They bond with us, learn the schedule, what's expected of them and we can create a "home away from home" for your pup.

Designing our facility this way creates a low to no stress situation for your dog. This is one of the reasons your dog pulls the leash out of your hands in our parking lot and runs to the door! They're happy to be here, happy to play, learn, relax and just be a dog.

An additional benefit of us knowing and spending so much time with your dog is health reasons. Jim and I noticed Roxy peeing more than normal this Thursday. Yes, we do pay close attention to your dogs elimination habits...it's part of our job! Wendy had noticed she turned down a meal on Wednesday. We brought her to the vet today and we found out she has a kidney infection. We are happy she is now on meds and on the road to recovery!

p.s. Roxy says "hi!" to her mom and dad who are on vacation right now!

So the moral of my little rant here...schedule and consistency are invaluable to your dog. Pay attention to your dog's diet and bathroom habits, you may catch an issue before it gets too bad. And please remember...if your puppy isn't feeling well, don't bring them to daycare! We wouldn't want to spread anything and a grumpy pup isn't likely to play well with others.

As always we're here to answer any questions and help in any way we can. Thank you all for everything!

Photos 12/19 & 12/21

Hello You Lucky Doggers! What a wild weekend, eh! Jim is stuck in Pennsylvania with the snow and won't be returning today as planned. It looks like he'll resurface in Raleigh on Wednesday so, if any of you visit that day, ask him how the storm was in PA! It certainly was a non-event here at You Lucky Dog. The canines enjoyed the little bit of white stuff we received but it certainly wasn't much!

The photos are from Saturday and Monday. Did I tell you the camera battery didn't work? So now I've ordered a new charger... I'll continue to work with the camera phone but wish me luck on the regular camera. I miss it!

Have a great evening!
Peace,
Wendy

Many of you have asked about Darwin. He is holding his own. Darwin only likes to play with small groups (15 or fewer) and not with any rough and tumble players. He only stays outside for about an hour each play session. The shoulder area seems more tender and I'll be speaking with the vet about continued pain medications. Thanks for all your support during this period. You are the best family!
(PS. A kind client and I were talking about his ability to stay warm so she made him this two sided jacket. He stands still each morning when I put it on. (Thanks Sam!))

Week of 12/14

Hello! The photos were difficult this week because of the weather. Cameras (where alone or in a phone) don't really like cold and rainy weather. I've also been fighting a head cold so that interfered with photo taking. There are some good shots thanks for Mindy! Enjoy the weekend.
Peace,
Wendy
