Photos - 1/12

Yesterday Jim S. was responsible for the camera and taking photos of the pack. Many of you know and don't understand his quirky sense of humor. That humor comes through in the following photos. Jim thoroughly enjoyed taking odd photos (along with some normal ones) because they just tickle his funny bone. I believe the dogs knew he was responsible for the camera and hammed it up for Jim! I hope you enjoy the following. Take care.

Peace,
Wendy

Double doodles are playing with Chance McG. They know he is a golden so they like to chase and bark at him probably telling him they are part golden too. All three have massive amounts of energy. We are always glad to see these three because they'll keep the pack energized. What a joy to watch them play.

Here are Jackson, Lila A., and Dixie pausing in their play session. These frozen moments are very important in appropriate play. They allow the energy of play to dissipate so that the energy stays at appropriate levels. This is a characteristic we watch for among new dogs to display. Not pausing during play is a detriment in that the energy keeps getting higher. Potentially the energy could flip into aggression without much prompting. That is why pauses/freezes are so very important.

Here you see Charlie the cocker in the background trying to see what the other two are doing. On the ground is Wrigley. He is playing with Sophie the basset. Those two enjoy mouthing each other. This is how the dogs necks get so slimy and crunchy!

This is a conference of the cavaliers visiting YLD. Missing are Carly, Charley and Tucker but attending are Violet (in black and white) and Sydney (in blenheim). Cavaliers recognize the brain function (or lack thereof) of other Cavaliers so they like to hang together. Jim S. (who took the photo) thought this was too funny so he had to record the event. Quirky humor!

This is my niece's dog Zander. He is a beagle mix from the mountains of North Carolina. Here he is rubbing his back all over the warm pea gravel. Yesterday was the day for rolling around as the following two photos display. The gravel was warm and must have felt wonderful under their bodies as they scratched their backs after nap time.

Kacey C. rolling around rubbing his back just like Zander. Kacey has been featured before in the blog. He is a wonderful golden who grew up in the YLD pack. It's difficult to believe he is four years old now!

Too cute! Standing is Cammie the husky. She's had her photo on the blog several times before. She is a sweetheart of a husky - maybe the best husky at daycare! Anyway, in front of her is Chance McG. He was having an ABSOLUTELY fabulous time rolling in the pea gravel.

Lady. What a sweet girl. Jim couldn't resist this alligator yawn that she displayed yesterday. Lady has a schedule. Right after nap she runs outside to the bottom play area, digs up a few rocks, then lays down for another nap in the sun. We say Lady likes to bake herself.

Here is Charlie (black cocker) saying hello to Wyatt. This was Wyatt's first full day of daycare at YLD. She did a good job playing. Her play style is very reminiscent of Cassie M. They have the same body style also - except for coloring they could be sisters. Wyatt is new to Raleigh. Her mom has started rotations at the vet college. Welcome to town Karen and Wyatt!

This is Fiona. It was her trial half day. Fiona is a very classy poodle. She sang and watched the other dogs play. Fiona seemed more interested in watching this first time instead of participating in the ruckus. She's coming back tomorrow to try it again. Welcome Fiona!

Here are two photos of Dixie (red dog) and Peyton (young golden). They were having a blast romping around. As you can see one would roll on the ground then get up and the other one would roll around. They played like this on and off all day!
